Lace Up for Literacy

May 15 to 31, 2020

Thanks to everyone who participated in this event! Over 150 people walked, sponsored a walker, or simply donated to this very fun fundraiser.

When COVID-19 forced us to cancel our two summer fundraisers, the Links for Literacy golf tournament and the Joyce S. Ahern Summer Speaker series, Jen Mellen, one of our Board members, came up with the idea to do a walking event. With great support and enthusiasm, the Board and staff rallied to create an event that fit with the times -- an activity that was easy to do, promoted good health, and allowed people to participate within the guidelines of the pandemic. And the weather could not have been better for being outside!

We thank everyone who participated in one way or another during this event. Lace Up for Literacy helped us all feel more connected during a time when we were staying close to home and sheltering in place. Most of all, your participation helped Literacy Volunteers replace some of the funds that are crucial to maintaining our programs and services. We could not do the work we do without your support and commitment.
